Toshiba Satellite Pro U400 review
Toshiba has updated its notebook range of late by adding a more curved design to its machines. However, the Satellite Pro U400, which is aimed at small businesses, has a rather basic feel about it. The black and silver chassis is boxy and plain but the build quality makes it reassuringly tough. Weighing 2.1kg, this is a semi-portable notebook designed with the corporate user in mind. Measuring 315 x 225 x 40mm, this is a rather bulky but compact machine.

Lenovo T500 ThinkPad Review
The T500 Thinkpad is the latest 15.4" refresh of the longstanding T-series out of Lenovo. Combining the latest generation of Intel goodies, ATI Hybrid graphics, and DisplayPort connection this notebook has many new things to offer over the previous ThinkPads. With all these changes taking place, is Lenovo keeping the ThinkPad as well built as we have come to expect, or has some quality slipped through the cracks? In this review we cover all aspects of the new ThinkPad T500 and tell you if we think it deserves a spot on your desk.

Dell Latitude E6400 Review
The Dell Latitude E6400, the update to the D630, packs in all the essentials needed to keep road warriors productive on the go: a speedy Intel Core 2 Duo processor, long battery life, and a host of security and durability features. Factor in the revamped design, which replaces its predecessor’s stodgy aesthetic for one that’s much more streamlined and visually appealing, and you have an excellent notebook for demanding business users.

Lenovo ThinkPad R500 Review
Built for business users who roam the office halls more than they roam through airports, the Lenovo ThinkPad R500 delivers everything we like about the ThinkPad line, just in a larger package than we’re used to. The big screen and standout keyboard mean that desk jockeys won’t have to switch to dock-connected replacements if they don’t want to, and the $1,237 price is very reasonable for the performance and features our tested configuration delivered.

Alienware Area 51 m17x Review
Every once in a while a system comes through our offices that obliterates the gaming performance scores of those that preceded it. Currently, that notebook is the Alienware Area-51 m17x, an overachieving beast that sliced through most games without a hitch. We love its matte black design, customizable glowing features, and killer gaming scores. And you may have to sell your car to buy the configuration we tested—a whopping $5,598. While the m17x’ blazing speeds got our adrenaline pumping, its flaws gave us pause.

Dell Inspiron 13 Review
The all new Dell Inspiron 13 follows the design direction of the new Studio series, as well as the XPS M1330 and XPS M1530. This sleek looking notebook offers a slot-loading optical drive, and unlike most Dell notebooks, is sold exclusively by Wal-Mart and Walmart.com. With a starting price of less than $700, this notebook is destined to be quite popular during the back to school buying rush.

Gateway P7811FX Review
Although our review unit came configured with a fingerprint reader and Bluetooth, these options are not available in the production model.Gateway shook up the gaming notebook market earlier this year by pairing a high-end graphics card with a middle-of-the-road processor in the P-6831FX.

Lenovo x200 Review
Today we’re putting the Lenovo x200 through it’s course. The x200 is the smaller brother to the now infamous x300, and an upgrade to the x61 series of earlier years (best in class for ultraportable as far as we’re concerned). Although being smaller, and lacking an optical drive, the x200 doesn’t seem too tiny nor as thin as the x300, and developing most of it’s hardships with the battery bay and standard tracking devices.

Sony VAIO VGN NR31JS Review
Sony is best known for its ultraportable notebooks, which are among the best on the market. It hasn't faired so well with its more cost-effective machines, largely due to their specification never matching the rest of the crowd. Take the Sony VAIO VGN-NR31J/S, it's a great looking machine that looks like it would make a great desktop replacement.

Fujitsu LifeBook T5010 Review

The T5010 also has a 13.3" active digitizer display that is very nice looking. This business focused tablet is great for taking notes and giving presentations. ASUS Eee PC 1000 Review
ASUS’ response to the heap of competitors entering the mini-notebook space it helped create has been a bit overwhelming; the company has just released its fifth Eee PC model in two months. But though it is increasingly difficult to pick from the seemingly interminable Eee PCs on the market, the Eee PC 1000 has risen to be one of our favorites.

Dell Latitude XT tablet PC review
Tablet PC as a platform has never really caught the imagination as much as Microsoft imagined it would. The result being that it is seen as a niche product selling predominantly to business users. Dell's entry into this market should raise the profile of the platform but the Latitude XT is aimed firmly at the core market.

Lenovo Thinkpad SL400 Review
These days, the line between business and pleasure is blurrier than ever as mobile professionals demand systems that can help them prepare sales proposals, stay connected to the office network from the road, watch a movie on the flight back, and allow them to play World of Warcraft when they finally get home.

Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Review
Although the ThinkPad X300 gets all of the attention for cramming so many features into a sleek 13.3-inch notebook, not everyone has more than $2,500 to drop on a laptop. As the successor to the ThinkPad X61, the equally portable and more affordable ThinkPad X200 skips the X300’s optical drive and makes a solid state drive optional while offering a slightly smaller 12.1-inch widescreen.

Dell Vostro 1700 Review
Dell's Vostro line is aimed at business users but takes the same standard look as the consumer Inspiron line. However, there are differences, with the build quality being ramped up and, if you’re willing to pay for it, extra services. The Dell Vostro 1700 is a 17-inch machine and being a business machine, the first thing you’ll notice about this notebook is the build quality.

Asus U6S Review
The Asus U6S is a solid notebook that sports a 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and has a 12.1" LED backlit screen that saves on battery life. The glossy brown lid has blue accent flakes in the paint, which we like to call "flavor crystals" that really catch the eye. It performed quite well on the benchmarking tests as well, so let's take a closer look to see how well it stacks against the competition.

Toshiba Satellite X205 SLi4 Review
Geared toward gamers, the Toshiba Satellite X205-SLi4 packs in enough power to play today’s latest 3D titles and has some pretty smokin’ hardware under its hood, including Intel’s latest Core 2 Duo T8100 Penryn processor and Nvidia SLI Dual GeForce graphics. While we appreciate the originality of the red Flare Carmine coloring on the lid, it looks like it would fit in best in a wood-paneled room just below a few deer-head trophies.

Alienware m15x Review
The Area-51 m15x is the newest high-performance gaming notebook from Alienware. It packs components typically found only in the largest of desktop replacements into a slim 15.4-inch form factor and still manages to be a practical machine on the road. Let's take a closer look.

Dell Latitude XT Tablet PC Review
Dell finally broke into the Tablet PC market with the release of the Latitude XT. There was a lot of hype and speculation around this release and we finally got our hands on a review unit. Now, we have the chance to see what the fuss is all about. The XT has a solid design and runs on a 1.2GHz ULV Core 2 Duo processor. It also has the new N-trig touchscreen technology, which is quite impressive. The pen and capacitive touch technology are both very accurate and responsive.

Everex CloudBook CE1200V Review
At first glance, the $399 Everex CloudBook CE1200V looks like it could go toe-to-toe with the similarly sized (and priced) Asus Eee PC. However, a closer look reveals several shortcomings, including a poorly placed touchpad, inconsistent wireless performance, and woefully long boot times. Everex promises this system will get better with upcoming software updates, but for now we’d pass.

Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook S6410 Review
Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook S6410 is an attractive Windows Vista-powered ultra-portable laptop. Equipped with latest Intel Centrino Duo processor technology, the silver-and-black machine would make a good choice for frequent travellers. Whereas the company’s E8410 is a desktop replacement laptop with more raw power, the Lifebook S6410 is better suited to road warriors due to its compact size (314x234x23-32mm) and minimal weight (1.7kg).

Panasonic Toughbook Y7 Review
An update to the solid Y5, the Panasonic Toughbook Y7 is the world’s lightest notebook with a 14.1-inch display and optical drive. It features Panasonic’s trademarked rough-and-tumble design, lengthy battery life, and optional built-in mobile broadband. At $2,649, this configuration is definitely not for mobile workers on a tight budget, and we’d prefer a widescreen, but the Toughbook Y7 is a good competitor to the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and is worth every penny for road warriors who want a notebook that will last.

Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook E8410 Review
Fujitsu Siemens’ laptops are synonymous with business. Gone is the multimedia razzmatazz, replaced instead with a solid set of features geared towards empowering business users with a solid and reliable platform to get the job done both in the office and on the road. The Lifebook E-Series is aimed at the performance orientated office user looking for a mobile platform that’s as powerful as their desktop machine.

Fujitsu LifeBook S2210 Review
If you need a 13.3-inch thin-and-light based on an AMD platform, the Fujitsu LifeBook S2210 is a good choice. In fact, it’s your only choice, according to Fujitsu. Add in a modular bay and an old-school but popular screen, and the S2210 fills a unique niche. We just wish the performance and design were a bit more thrilling. The S2210’s bland, black, chunky exterior screams, “Look at the other guy.”

Dell XPS M1330 Review
We heralded the Dell XPS M1330 as one of the best 13.3-inch notebooks when it debuted, and when we see the trade-offs and exorbitant prices that newer entries demand, the M1330 looks even better. The M1330’s distinctive wedge shape looks sharp, as did our test unit’s blue-and-silver color scheme (black, white, or crimson are also available). Flip the lid and you’ll find a full-size keyboard that’s second—just barely—to the ThinkPad X300 in comfort and feel.

Sony VAIO VGN SZ791NX Review
No one does elegant-chic notebooks quite like Sony, and the VAIO SZ Series is no exception. This sleek 13.3-inch platform starts at a reasonable $1,499, though our premium model, the VGN-SZ791N/X, costs $1,000 more. For that you get better-than-average performance and a host of unique features, all wrapped in a lightweight carbon-fiber casing that looks as good as it protects.

Alienware Area 51 m15x Review
Awe-inspiring performance and portability don’t usually go hand in hand, but the Alienware Area-51 m15x artfully combines these two ingredients while allowing gamers to customize the look of its latest notebook with six distinct lighting zones. In fact, the unbeatable one-two punch of Intel’s Core 2 Extreme X9000 processor and Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX graphics allow this 15.4-inch screamer to outperform many heftier rigs.

Asus F8P Review
Whether you think it's the epitome of style or just plain silly, it's hard to feel undecided about the Asus F8P's appearance. Using gratuitous amounts of leather on the lid and palm rest, the notebook makes a visual statement - though what kind of statement it makes is up for debate.

Lenovo ThinkPad X300 Review
Both the MacBook Air and the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 push the envelope of the newest generation of ultraportables. And where the MacBook Air is more revolutionary, delivering an amazingly thin design but requiring users to adjust how they work, the ThinkPad is more evolutionary, delivering all the features users have come to expect in a scaled-down but still familiar package. You’ll pay a premium for the X300 but if a no-compromise notebook is what you need and shaving every ounce and millimeter counts, you won’t be disappointed.

Everex CloudBook Review
The Everex CloudBook marks the latest entry to the expanding world of UMPC-type subnotebooks at affordable prices. With a 7-inch display, 1.2GHz processor, and 30GB hard drive, the CloudBook certainly doesn't make a very good desktop replacement computer, but it does look like one impressive little road warrior. What did we think of the CloudBook after one day in our office? The answers may surprise you.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Review
The name ThinkPad has been synonymous with business for years and remains one of the single most popular notebook brands for corporate road warriors. But what about average consumers? This is where Lenovo's all new IdeaPad line of notebooks comes to the rescue. The 15-inch IdeaPad Y510 offers innovative design, solid technical specs and impressive built-in speakers that make other laptops look like cheap toys.

Fujitsu LifeBook P1620 Review
Fujitsu recently refreshed the "P series" line of tablets, with the P1620 Tablet PC. The P1620 is basically a refreshed P1610. The P1610 was released back in 2006 and has a 1.2GHz Core Solo processor. Well big brother, the P1620, sports a 1.2GHz ULV Core 2 Duo processor and bigger hard drive options.

Samsung X22 Review
Samsung has introduced some great notebook designs of late and the X22 continues this trend with a semi-lightweight machine intended for power users on the move. Other models we've seen from Samsung have ad a glossy finish but this latest machine has a matt-black finish, which we felt was far more durable. The 2.2kg chassis is compact and feels robust to the touch. It's made from plastic so will certainly stand up to the rigours of life on the road.

Toshiba Qosmio G45 AV690 Review
Featuring a stylish Cosmic Black Pearl design, very good performance, ample storage, and a stunning 1080p display, the Toshiba Qosmio G45-AV680 was one of the most versatile desktop replacements in 2007. With the G45-AV690, Toshiba makes an already excellent notebook better by including Intel’s new 45-nanometer Penryn platform, which offers even better performance and battery life. We wish you could pick up this powerhouse without the now virtually obsolete HD-DVD rewritable drive, but the G45-AV690 is still one of the best multimedia notebooks around.

Fujitsu LifeBook A6120 Review
The Fujitsu LifeBook A6120 is a 15.4" widescreen multimedia notebook that was recently released in North America. The A6120 offers an Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn processor and some nice features, but doesn't break the bank in terms of price. If you're looking for a well-built desktop replacement productivity and multimedia machine at home that's still light enough to carry around a bit, the A6120 deserves your attention.

Toshiba Satellite U300 13V Review
Toshiba has been making notebooks for over 20 years and in that time has specialised on corporate machines but increasingly in the last few years it has released a number of machines for the home user too. The Toshiba Satellite U300-13V fits in the middle of this notion, as the 2.1kg chassis is aimed at those who need to work while on the move but the inclusion of Windows Vista Home Premium means it lacks connectivity and security features found in Vista Business.

Vye mini v S37B Review
The Asus Eee PC changed the budget laptops landscape dramatically when it hit the market at the end of last year. Here was a well put together machine that combined good looks, light weight and an ultraportable form factor and managed to bring it in at an incredibly low price of £240. It's hardly surprising that it's selling like hot cakes, but while the Eee is perfect for email, web browsing and simple document creation, it won't be for everyone.
