Asus VX1 Lamborghini Review

Asus VX1 LamborghiniOne of my hands-down favorite luxury cars is a yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, so it was only fitting that ASUS would send me a VX1 with a bright yellow top (it's available in solid black, too). The laptop's lid slants downward toward the front bezel just like the hood of a real sports car. The brushed aluminum exterior is also strongly reminiscent of the Spyder. Of course, no supercar laptop would be complete without an emblem; in this case, the distinctive raging-bull Lamborghini logo.

Even though the system is just 1.2 inches thick, it feels quite heavy, at 5.7 pounds. Having a large, brightly lit 15-inch screen doesn't help the weight either. Interestingly, the screen is not the typical widescreen format found these days on many notebooks, including the Acer Ferrari 4000. Even so, the VX1's screen, with 1,400-by-1,050 resolution, makes gazing at videos and photos enjoyable. Both the full-size keyboard and the leathery touchpad feel cool to the touch and are extremely responsive, like those on the ASUS W2Jb.

Although the four USB ports offer abundant connectivity options, I'm not crazy about how all of them are situated on one side of the unit. Other connections include a FireWire port, VGA-out, and a 4-in-1 card reader (SD, MMC, MS, MS Pro). ASUS has also integrated a DVD+R dual-layer burner, and a 120GB hard drive provides copious storage space. Asus VX1 Lamborghini review by PC Magazine Linked by LT Hacker
